INFOLINK and The INFOLINK Tech Committee present
1ST INFOLINK lib CUP
GAMING TOURNAMENT
Tournament Flyer: GamingTournament_Final.pdf
Since INFOLINK launched our gaming service in March, 2009, the gaming kits are circulating actively. Many member libraries are taking advantage of the service and have offered successful gaming programs at their library. Libraries that use our Gaming Service provide evaluation feedback. From this we can state that the experience shared by both staff and customers is extremely positive.
INFOLINK and the INFOLINK Technology Committee strongly believe that Library Gaming Services (in all types of libraries and for people of all ages) are proven to be extremely successful. Such activity adds tremendous value to library services. In order to continue to expand the success of the Gaming Library Service, INFOLINK and the INFOLINK Technology Committee offer the 1st INFOLINK LIB CUP Gaming Tournament. This tournament is open to all of the INFOLINK member libraries.

The tournament regular season begins Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009 (ALA Gaming Day) and will run through Friday, Mar. 26, 2010. You can participate in up to four different leagues depending on the game(s) and the age segment(s) you select.
Individual players will compete with each other in Wii Super Smash Bros. Brawl leagues. For the Rockband 2 leagues, teams consist of three players (Drum, Guitar and Bass) and will compete as a team against other teams.
You do not need to travel to participate in the regular season. Instead -- plan several gaming sessions at your own library for your own players/teams during the regular season. Make sure that you record accurate scores of each player and team after each session. You will maintain the scoreboard through GT System (see more info about GT System below.)
You don’t have any gaming consoles or games at your library? No problem! Book the INFOLINK gaming kits to have your gaming sessions during the regular season! Learn more about the INFOLINK Gaming Kits and borrow what you need from us!
GT System: Maintaining Your Score Board
- Our tournament URL: infolink.gtsystem.org
- Log in Information: • Username : infolink1, • Password : mario234 (Note: Once the regular season begins, the new log-in information will be informed to the participating libraries.)
- INFOLINK CUP GT System Manager: Doug Baldwin (baldwin@cranburypubliclibrary.org, 609-655-0555)
- GT System Training PowerPoint developed by Doug: GTSystem.ppt
During the regular season, participating libraries have to maintain their players’ score board on the GT System for the INFOLINK LIB CUP. Developed by Eli Neiburger at Ann Arbor District Library (AADL), GT System is a framework and a set of web tools for producing videogame tournaments of any size for players of any age or experience level. It gives you everything you need to promote and run a videogame tournament at your institution, and it allows all GT system players to see where how they stack up on local, regional and national leaderboards.
You do not need to be a tech person to maintain your scoreboard on GT System! All you need to do is to post the score of your players and teams after each gaming session. Details on how to maintain the score board through GT system will be covered at the Information Sessions.
Playoff & Grand Finale (Grand Prizes)
Top players and teams who record the highest scores during the regular season from each library will advance to the playoff and play for the Grand Finale. Players/Teams that advance to the Playoff will compete at the Playoff/Grand Finale event. The tentative date for this Playoff/Grand Finale is Saturday, April 17, 2010. The location will be announced on the INFOLINK listserv and on the INFOLINK Gaming Service wiki. More details will be posted here, and if you have any questions, please contact Mi-Sun at lyu@infolink.org.
The winning players and libraries will receive wonderful Grand Prizes that include Wii Console for winning libraries and Best Buy Gift Cards for winning players. More Grand Prizes for winning players and libraries (1st – 4th Places) will be announced here soon.
